You apply these pieces of armour daily, you arm yourself by obeying God’s commandments and in doing so guard yourself against any attack from Satan. Putting on the armour of God is something you do personally with God’s help: gird your waist with truth, put on breastplate of righteousness, shod your feet with preparation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, put on the shield of faith which quenches attacks from Satan, the helmet of salvation, by believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again, and finally the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God. You are to put on the whole armour of God, you don’t need to pray for individual pieces of armour to protect you and you can’t pray the armour of God over other people.
